Introduction: Broccoli is rich in vitamin K which can strengthen the wall of blood vessels. It normally condenses blood and prevents abnormal bleeding. Broccoli also contains vitamin C and carotene. It is an anti-oxidant which can protect the body from harm done by free radicals, thereby preventing cancer.
 
Note: The flowers of broccoli often have residual pesticide and insects. You should soak the broccoli in saline water before cooking. The insects will float on the water. Then rinse the broccoli thoroughly.
 
Purchase: You should choose broccoli which are green or dark green and without any yellow colour. The broccoli should be dense and not loose; heavy. If the broccoli is hard, it means that it is old.
