Environmental Resource Center (Former Wan Chai Post Office)

The oldest post office existing in Hong Kong, the building was declared Monument in 1990. It was built between 1912 and 1913 at the corner of Wan Chai Gap Road and Queen’s Road East. It is a simple Chinese building with pyramidal-roof design in L-shape when viewed from the top. A small but delicate building, it has arched window tops, stone false wedges and decorated window sills, plus gable ends and moldings. The building is plain but not without character.

The post office was close in 1992 after serving the community for 77 years. It’s been changed into the Environmental Resource Center in 1993, managed by Green Power for its daily operation and management, exhibiting information on environmental protection.
