Fire safety

  • Make sure all gas and electrical appliances are switched off or unplugged before you go to bed.
  • Close the kitchen, living room and bedroom doors before you go to bed. This will prevent fire from spreading if it breaks out while you are sleeping.
  • Before installing an air-conditioner, check its electrical rating to make sure that it will not overload an existing circuit. Maintain and clean your air-conditioner regularly as a clogged filter will result in an overloaded motor.
  • Avoid plugging more than one adapter into the same socket. Never connect too many plugs to the same socket.
  • Cords of electrical appliances should not be subject to foot traffic or the weight of furniture. Do not run them under rugs or carpets.
  • Do not place aerosol sprays in direct sunlight or near any heat source as they may explode. Always keep them in a cool, dry place.
  • Never place the heater too close to beds, settees or chairs. Do not dry your clothes on top of the heater.
  • Clean the water pumps and filters inside fishbowls regularly to prevent fire caused by overheating or short-circuit.
  • Stoves should be cleaned regularly to prevent grease from accumulating. They should be kept clear of combustibles such as waste paper.
  • Unplug the refrigerator and remove dust from the motor compressor area at regular intervals.
