Tsim Bei Tsui
Tsim Bei Tsui, formerly named ‘Kwai Shan’, is located in the northwest of the New Territories of Hong Kong, with Lau Fau Shan to its west and Mai Po Marshes in close proximity. It is part of the Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay Ramsar Site. In 1995, Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay were formally designated a ‘Wetland of International Importance’ under the Ramsar Convention. Tsim Bei Tsui is also designated by the Hong Kong government as a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’.

It encompasses different kinds of habitat, including tidal ponds, fish ponds, egret groves and roadside woods, which provide a desirable home for a variety of wildlife. Therefore, it is a good place to watch birds, including most of the birds seeking shelter in Mai Po Marshes – especially the different types of winter migratory birds, ducks, and snipe species belonging to the shorebird family Scolopacidae. The Tangxia Pavilion on a nearby hill provides a vantage birdwatching point.

From June to November each year, visitors can also visit the organic farm at Tsim Bei Tsui, where they can pick dragon fruit and eat seasonal fruit fresh from the trees.
