What can I do to look great?
Have you kept photos of your younger self in a drawer? Approaching 60 or even older, when you flip through an album, you must be shocked to realize how young you once were and how different you look now!
That won’t upset you much if you understand that the change of our shape, skin and hair is an integral part of life as much as youth. Besides, it gives you even greater relief to learn that charm and elegance can still find a way back to you as long as you keep trying to find the most appropriate way to
take care of your skin,
hair and
shape so that you look great.
Take care of your skin
Hair Care
Buddhist doctrine compares hair to “three thousand trouble silks”, as it just keeps growing no matter how many times you cut it and never ceases tangling together no matter how many times you comb it. Secular souls like us may not be that sentimental, but the importance of taking good care of our hair can never be overstated.
Hairs grow from follicles. Each well-functioning follicle can accommodate two or three hairs. An unclean scalp always leads to hair loss as the dirt in the tiny pores blocks the way out for new hairs. What’s more, human hair looks shiny and glossy because it has a neatly arranged surface layer called “cuticle” (the other two layers are inner medulla and cortex). Once the cuticle layer is damaged, our hair will look dull and dry. Therefore, we not only need to be aware of the importance of hair shampooing, but also need to learn how to properly
shampoo our hair so as not to damage the cuticle.
Quite a few men and women begin to suffer
baldness and
white hair at an early age. In spite of the tips we share with you in a later chapter, we believe that such problem must be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. It is wise to always seek help from health experts. They may tell you how to take care of your hair in a manner that suits you most.
Keep in good shape with an agile figure
Putting on weight is also worth special attention for the 60-year-old group. It’s not hard to imagine that one returns from a two-week-long gourmet food-riddled sightseeing cruise tour much heavier than before the vacation. Consequently, when one finds one’s clothes too small to give any comfort, one simply opts for bigger ones, for they not only ease the wearing process, but also have the merit of covering up one’s pot belly. The dark side, however, is that loose-fitting clothes give such great comfort that one may never be able to muster up the courage again to wear close-fitting attire.
Tips: always keep alert and pay attention to your weight and shape; do not be a glutton and avoid all between-meal nibbles, high-calorie foods and midnight snacks; whenever possible, take part in
Body-strengthening Activities, which helps remove waste substances from inside the body and boosts blood circulation.
People with a slim and agile figure are more confident, positive and sociable than those without. Most importantly, physical agility may translate into a young heart and joy.
