Tai Kwun - Centre for Heritage and Arts is situated in the restored Central Police Station compound. It comprises 16 heritage buildings which integrate with two new iconic buildings JC Contemporary and JC Cube to provide space for art exhibitions and performances as well as a selection of restaurants and shops to offer culturally meaningful experiences.

The compound has a history of 170 years. The restoration of Tai Kwun is one of the most significant revitalization projects in Hong Kong.  It does not only serve the purpose of promoting heritage conservation, but also to turn it into a cultural landmark for providing performance art spaces.  Planning work commenced in 2006 and after 12 years of design, public consultation and actual construction and conversation works, the project was completed in May 2018 and Tai Kwun was open to the public in phases.

Visitors can explore the historical remains in the former Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison. The architectural features are particularly familiar to the green-age group, many of whom were brought up during the colonial time.

Apart from its historical value, Tai Kwun offers a wide range of venues for theatrical performances, music, dance and movies. Regular workshops are also held on all kinds of art themes.  If you are a fan of handicrafts, Tai Kwan is a place where you can spend time with your friends and discover happy surprises.
